Responsible for the successful creation and delivery of the company's animated shows to the marketplace by managing technical risks and opportunities: making key software design and implementation decisions with the development teams; scheduling of tasks including tracking dependencies, managing change requests, and guaranteeing quality of deliveries; and educating the team on technical best practices.
• Defines the technological strategy with the development team of each project: pipeline, tools, and key development procedures.
• Assesses technical risk and mitigation plan.
• Establishes standards and procedures to track and measure projects progression.
• Evaluates development teams, identifying strengths, problem areas, and developing plans for improving performance.
• Evaluates interview candidates for lead technical positions.
• Scouts for and evaluates new technology and tools as opportunities for game innovation and development excellence.
• Pre-production Oversees technical design documentation process for correctness and timeliness.
• Provides input to the other disciplines on the practicality of initial design goals and impact to the overall project timeline.
• Evaluates software implementation on design and task thoroughness Helps to identify high risk areas for the Project Technical Director.
• During production Shows change impact on the schedule, manpower, and quality.
• Identifies pipelines insufficiencies, which were not found during preproduction and creates a plan using the team engineering bandwidth, the local ATG, or the core technology group.
• Identifies weak software systems that need code improvement and schedules corrective action, when possible.
• Creates automated test process for system and game features, where possible, and contributes to the build system.
• Aids in all stages of post-production including during finalizing
• B.S.in Computer Science or related field required.
• 5+ years of related experience including professional game programming experience, including PC, Xbox, PS2, PSP, and Xbox 360.
• Recent experience as a programmer with technical lead responsibility on at least two previous games published for current consoles.
• Proven experience as the software design lead on animated television series or feature film Experience with working with all disciplines of a project Experience of both internal and external development on multiple titles at any given time.
• Proven experience in C and C++ programming, multiple hardware platforms, 3D graphics, research and development, and management.
• Understanding and proficiency in using 3D graphics software such as 3DSMAX, MAYA, particularly on an advanced scripting level.
• Strong foundation in Data Structures, Math, and Algorithms.
• Thorough command of applicable programming languages and thorough knowledge of software design practices, including modularity documentation, event-driven architecture, object oriented design, graphic and animation techniques, interface design practices, portability, extensibility, and testability.
• Ability to learn and master new technologies and code.
• Strong organizational and management skills.
• Additional Experience directly in Film or TV is a plus.
